Hostel Via Zara is just the perfect base to explore Palermo and the area. It’s very central, super clean, friendly atmosphere and feels very safe. Don’t be taken back by some of the comments saying it’s very loud at night - yes, there are open air parties nearby few nights a week as you are in the “party” area of town, but nothing a pair of earplugs can’t resolve. On the other hand, you get so much value for your money, a safe and friendly place, super delicious home made breakfast included in price, very convenient location. Especially recommended for solo female travelers. Thanks Mario and Justina for being such great hosts and for providing great tips for exploring around. I would definitely visit back next time I’m in Sicily!

Very well located property. A 10 minute walk from Palermo Station and a short walking distance from the main streets full of attractions, restaurants and nightlife. I stayed in the female only, three bed room and quickly made friends with roommates. I like that they are not bunk beds. The rooms are a comfortable size and are clean. Lots of reviews complain about noise from the streets, but I didn't find that it was bad. There are two washrooms and one shower area with two showers. The hostel felt very safe. The bedroom doors do not lock, but they provide lockers with locks provided. It's a small, friendly hostel with hosts that are very kind and genuinely interested in helping you discover Palermo. They cook breakfast every morning (included) that is very tasty. I would stay here again in future.

Location is great, perfect to explore Palermo! As it is located in one of the busiest neighbourhoods, it can get quite noisy at night, but a good pair of earplugs will help you have a quiet sleep ;-) The staff was extremely lovely!!! Every morning we would have an abundant breakfast prepared by Mario (host), he was always making sure that we had everything. Mario would sit at the table with us and eat and talk. It felt like we were family. The room was spacious, clean and decently comfy. The cleanliness of the room and bathrooms was on top! I would definitely recommend this place!!!

This place is truly wonderful and magical! From the moment you walk in, you feel like part of a family. There’s always laughter in the air, people sharing stories, meals, and unforgettable moments. It’s a space where friendships are made with people from all over the world — a true home away from home. Justina, Mario, Sebastiano, and Marco do an incredible job. Their kindness, energy, and hospitality make all the difference. The place is always spotless, beautifully maintained, and located in a prime spot in Palermo. It’s cozy and comfortable, but what really makes it special is the atmosphere they’ve created — one filled with warmth, connection, and joy. If you’re visiting Palermo, don’t miss the chance to stay here. It’s not just accommodation, it’s an experience — one that stays in your heart long after you leave. I couldn’t recommend it more!

My first hostel experience ever and I absolutely loved it! Everyone was so helpful, friendly, kind, and caring they truly made my stay unforgettable. I even decided to extend my stay because of how comfortable I felt The hostel is super clean, well-organised, and equipped with everything you need for a day-to-day stay. The location is just perfect: right next to the bus stop, close to the train station, and with 24/7 police presence nearby so it feels very safe and secure. The team was always just a call away for anything I needed, whether related to accommodation or just general help. I honestly felt like part of a family here. A special thanks to Justina and Mario for treating me with so much care and love
